Wellness Coordinator Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive/Wellness/Program Director and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of Southwest Florida, the Wellness Coordinator will assist with the leadership, management, and supervision of all health enhancement activities including; wellness center, health innovations, and group exercise to provide the highest quality programming within a safe environment. Responsible for overseeing the safe, effective and physically appropriate wellness programming and classes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Stay current with group exercise trends and suggest recommendations.Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff which may include instructors, trainers and volunteers to ensure proper staffing levels.Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.Create and implement group exercise schedule monthly and update weekly.Promote/highlights group exercise classes and encourage member engagement.Ensure group exercise instructors are current with their certifications.Staff are expected to act professionally and dress according to the requirements.Ensure that classes are safe and within industry standards and guidelines.Become familiar with participants and members; learn names, their health concerns and their physical limitations.Attend and host regularly scheduled staff meetings.Direct all maintenance concerns to Executive/Wellness/Program Director immediately.Manages Payroll for Wellness staffParticipate in YMCA-sponsored special events and activities when possible.Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my departmentActive participation in teaching, training and coaching members.Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Constantly assess the community for needs, opportunities and threats as they pertain to the successful development of the Wellness Department.Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.Assist Executive/Wellness/Program Director with additional duties as required

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 18 years of ageOne year or more of experience in fitness.Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screeningExcellent verbal and written communication skillsRefrain from diagnosing injuries, offering medical advice, and dispensing or endorsing any and all commercial health products especially nutritional supplements, vitamins, performance enhancing substances, and pain relievers.Must be a self starter, with high energy and a positive attitudeAdhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate fitness certificationCPR/First Aid/AED Certification requiredCompletion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training annuallyCompletion of YMCA’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Class annuallyStaff Safety Requirements/Cleaning ProtocolsAdditional training classes as recommended by Supervisor
