In the US, GQ reaches an audience of nearly 10M readers every month across our multiplatform channels. GQ US is hiring a Wellness & Grooming Director to support the Site Director in developing wellness, grooming, and fitness digital content for the website and digital channels. 

The Wellness & Grooming Director will manage the wellness content vertical on GQ.com, inclusive of grooming and fitness content, and will work to develop a holistic content strategy to drive maximum audience through those content lanes. The wellness editor will be focused on storytelling aimed at driving loyal audience growth, as well as content that complements and supports GQ’s robust commerce vertical.

  

Ideal candidates will be deeply engaged with the full range of the men’s wellness and fitness media landscape (including online creators), have a keen eye for developing storytelling that differentiates GQ, a talent for shaping sharp copy, and an innate grasp of GQ’s tone, voice and editorial point of view. They should have experience using audience insights to refine their tactics, and be an expert at juggling multiple projects, managing deadlines, and advocating for creativity across the editorial organization. The role is for someone who cares deeply about GQ’s point of view, the topics we cover, and is enthusiastic working with a nimble team. This role will manage an Associate Editor position, focused on writing and editing grooming/style service content. 
 

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead and develop GQ’s wellness content strategy across all platforms 

Oversee Wellness section coverage, including assigning staff and freelance writers, leading idea generation, shaping pitches, booking talent interactions, editing daily site content, ensuring daily publishing targets are met, shepherding special digital projects as needed and managing freelance content budget 

 Manage Associate Editor

Find and recruit a broad range of new voices and contributors to GQ and develop new editorial franchises and tentpoles. 

Work closely with the operations team to ensure wellness digital content follows proper workflow processes, including updating digital lineups, submitting art requests, coordinating as needed with copy and research departments

Collaborate with Commerce Director to inform and develop ancillary wellness content to support commerce strategy

Pitch, assign and edit staff and contributor wellness content for the print edition as needed, with a focus on developing and launching traffic-driving editorial opportunities

Liaise with Director of Editorial Operations and the operations team to develop and deliver on sponsor-driven digital projects within the wellness space; provide editorial guidance on wellness related branded content

Additional duties as required, or as assigned by employee’s supervisor

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

At least 8+ years experience editing wellness related content with demonstrated success in growing digital audiences

Ability to manage digital writers and editors 

Passion for GQ and core editorial subject areas beyond wellness, such as fashion, entertainment, internet culture, sports, and more

Strong collaboration skills and experience working across cross-functional teams

Experience working with digital content management and editorial analytics systems; proficiency with AirTable, Google Analytics, GSuite, InCopy a plus

Excellent time management and organization skills; excellent news judgment

The expected base salary range for this position is from $120,000-$160,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
