Posting Details Position Information Job Title Wellness Peer Educator and Mentor - Spring 2025 Department Counseling and Wellness Services Job Description/Duties Wellness PEER Educator and Mentors (Peer Education, Empowerment and Resource) are part of an internship with the Health Promotion Office where students teach their peers about all aspects of health and wellness. It is the hope that through education and awareness, we can equip students with the necessary tools to make safe and responsible decisions in an effort to create a safe and healthy campus experience for all.
TrainingYou will be required to participate in a training session. The date will be determined after all applications are received. In training, you will learn core skills, team building and participate in many fun activities.
Class / Intern MeetingYou will be required to attend a one-hour class each week over the course of the semester. Class time will be determined after interns are selected based on class schedules.
OutreachOutreach is reaching out to students who are in their own environments such as academic buildings, residence halls, Student Life Center or class presentations. Wellness PEER Educator and Mentors will assist in creating content for workshops and programs. Wellness PEER Educator and Mentors will be leaders in Sexual Health programming on campus and when groups request presentations.
Wellness WednesdayWellness PEER Educator and Mentors will either be presenting or attending each weekly Wellness Wednesday. Wellness PEER Educator and Mentors will also develop programming for the following semester as well as plan advertisements.
Future Program PlanningWellness PEER Educator and Mentor will also be responsible for planning future programs as well as additional duties as assigned. Days/Hours Needed Wellness PEER Educator and Mentors are needed at various times Monday through Friday. There is occasional night programs. You are required to participate in 8 hours per week of class-related activities. Campus Location/Bldg. Corey Union, Room 202 and location of meetings and programs Required Qualifications Must be a SUNY Cortland student Must be hired for the 3-credit Wellness PEER Educator internship GPA requirement of approximately 2.5 or higher Preferred Qualifications Strong interest in learning and educating peers Willingness to work as a team and with a diverse student population Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility Contact Name(s) & Email(s) Lauren Scagnelli
