Wellness Promotion Coordinator
Location: Utica, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Mon Dec 9 2024 Job Description: The Wellness Promotion Coordinator will develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based prevention initiatives, educational programs, and comprehensive services relative to the core areas of college student health & wellness. These areas include education and promotion of mental health and well-being, stress management/self-care, alcohol and other drug use prevention, smoking/vaping cessation, sleep health, good nutrition, exercise, healthy relationships, common illness and injury prevention and sexual health education. As a key member of the Student Wellness Center, Health & Counseling Services, the Wellness Promotion Coordinator will incorporate risk reduction strategies and provide inclusive programming to the student body to enhance campus-wide engagement in wellness efforts. This position may require some evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of the students. The Wellness Promotion Coordinator must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Wellness Coordinator will be an integral part of the required Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Biennial Review Process required by the Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Act Regulations (Edgar Part 86), as well as the designing and implementing the AOD campus prevention program. The Wellness Coordinator will also be responsible for providing education for the AOD related student conduct sanctions and will co-chair the Poly AOD Prevention Task Force. + Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based health promotion and prevention policies, educational programs, and comprehensive services relative to the core areas of college student health & wellness and incorporate risk reduction strategies. Provide inclusive programming to the student body to enhance campus-wide engagement in wellness efforts. Programming and initiatives will have an emphasis on the promotion of mental health awareness, help seeking behaviors, coping strategies and provide education and opportunities for self-care and stress management for mental well-being. Provide individual student wellness coaching to SUNY Poly students on a variety of health and wellness topics. + Design, implement and assess the Alcohol and other Drug (AOD) campus prevention program. Provide education sessions for AOD related student conduct sanctions, Co-chair the Poly AOD Prevention Task Force and lead the task force on the completion of the required Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Biennial Review Process required by the Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Act Regulations (Edgar Part 86) + Other reasonable duties as assigned. Salary: $55,000 - $62,000 Benefits: https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/benefits/benefit-summaries/FTUUPbenefitsummary-June-2024.pdf Job Requirements: Minimum Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in health Promotion, Community Health Education, Health Sciences, Public Health, Wellness Management or related discipline from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. + A minimum of two years' work experience in health promotion, health education, wellness program management or relevant work experience. + Knowledge of current and emerging college health issues, environmental management/prevention strategies, health behavior change theories, and evidence-based practice. + Proficiency in Microsoft Software as well as with social media platforms for education and engagement. + Excellent and demonstrated public speaking and communication skills. Preferred Requirements + Master's Degree in Health Promotion, Community Health Education, Health Sciences, Public Health, Wellness Management or related field. + CHES or CPH certified or eligible (with intent to become certified) preferred. + Experience working in a college setting.
