West-East Rail Co-op Spring 2025

Position Summary

This co-op will report to the West-East Rail Director and work on projects and tasks to support the unit. This will include supporting the WER Director with research, analyses, and developing presentations; participating in meetings, taking notes, and tracking follow-up items; and making field visits. This position can work up to 37.5 hours per week, but will require a minimum of 12-15 hours per week. The selected candidate must report to 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA for at least 4 hours between 8 AM and 4 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop scope and support WER Director in an ADA Operations Plan for Compass Rail stations which will evaluate ADA infrastructure and procedures at each station.Inventory Compass Rail Stations: identify ownership, capital and maintenance responsibilities, operating agreements/easements, etc.Quantifying benefits for intercity passenger rail. Establishing measures for success, building a clear, concise case for investment.Researching the relationship between intercity passenger rail and intercity bus especially as related to WER.Develop updates for Compass Rail webpages and potential email communications to listserv.Investigate establishing formal ridership database for Compass Rail.Establish photo library for Rail Transit. Will include field visits to take photos.
