Job Description
Our Wheelchair Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the efficient deployment of wheelchair services throughout the airport. This role involves scheduling and dispatching wheelchair attendants to assist passengers with mobility challenges, ensuring timely and effective service. You will monitor flight schedules, passenger needs, and attendant availability to optimize resource allocation and response times. Additionally, the position requires maintaining clear communication with airport staff, attendants, and passengers to facilitate a smooth and supportive experience for those requiring assistance.

You like working as a team, toward a common goalCoordinate the dispatch of wheelchair services throughout the airport terminalsRespond promptly to requests for wheelchair assistance from airline personnel and passengersManage the scheduling and routing of wheelchair attendants to maximize efficiencyTrack the availability and location of wheelchairs and mobility equipmentMaintain clear communication with airport staff, including gate agents and customer service representativesEnsure compliance with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines and airport regulationsYou have a great attention to detailYou enjoy working with a team or individually to accomplish your tasksLike to build long term relationships with your customersPhysical activity may include:Stand and walk for extended periods of timeAbility to lift 70 pounds or more and able to push a wheelchair with an adult in itBe able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environmentClose vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); Depth Perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus) QualificationsQualifications
Minimum age of 18 years oldAbility to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documentsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsPrevious experience in dispatch, or customer serviceAbility to physically assist and transport passengers in wheelchairsCommitment to providing excellent customer serviceComfortable working with computers, mobile devices, and tabletsAbility to pass a drug screenEligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
