SUMMARY:

The Whey Day Off Relief person must cover Whey Operator, Milk Receiver, Secondary Starter Maker, positions, and the position of Whey Product Lead Hand.  IN addition to performing all tasks listed below, the operator must be able to perform SAP transactions in all positions listed below.  Always adheres to all USDA, GMP and safety regulations.

Whey Product Lead Hand will have the leadership ability to supervise the production process and its operators.  The production process is defined as milk receiving, product load out, whey department (including sanitation), and secondary starter.  This individual must have a good attitude, ability to lead and coach other people, and have the technical ability to oversee the functions of the areas listed above.  This is a working lead hand’s position with a reporting relationship to the shift supervisor and the production manager. This person must always adhere to all USDA, GMP, and safety regulations.  Milk receiving is responsible for receiving all fluid dairy products and loading out all fluid dairy products while ensuring proper weights, tests, and samples are taken and paperwork completed accurately and timely.

Whey operation is responsible for taking raw whey from the cheese department clarifying, separating out the fat, pasteurizing, using ultra filtration to concentrate the protein, using reverse osmosis and Nano filtration to concentrate the sugar (lactose) and minerals.

Milk Receiving is responsible for receiving all fluid daily products and loading out all fluid dairy products.  A receiver must ensure proper weights, tests, and samples are taken from every tanker shipped or received.  Always adheres to all USDA, GMP, and safety regulations.

Secondary Starter is responsible for taking the raw whey from the vats, separate out the fat, pasteurizing, using ultra filtration to concentrate the protein, using reverse osmosis to concentrate the sugar (lactose) and minerals, and using Nano filtration to re-concentrate the minerals from the water.  Always adheres to all USDA, GMP and safety regulations.

FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All whey personnel are responsible for food safety including, but not limited to practicing GMP’s, and appropriate food defense techniques.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good communication skills.Good math and statistical skills. Computer skills helpfulGood mechanical skills and aptitude

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Being able to resolve issues/problems that involve numerous variables in demanding situations.

Hourly Range: $29.63 - $34.91
