WIC Nutrition Aide
Reporting to the WIC Site Nutritionist, the WIC Nutrition Aide provides and documents nutrition education to low-risk child participants. This position has the ability to communicate orally and in writing to WIC participants with a respectful and welcoming demeanor. This position also includes clerical and secretarial duties, such as scheduling appointments, responding to phone calls, and completing the certification process of WIC applicants. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists in certification of WIC applicants by performing these tasks: + Interviewing to obtain basic demographic data, verifying identity, residency, and income eligibility and entering all data into CT-WIC. + Answering WIC phone, checking voicemails/emails and performing follow-up phone calls for rescheduling and appointment questions, lost WIC cards, general WIC questions, etc. + Performing necessary paperwork, as assigned, including maintaining files and accurate documentation + Assisting in preparation of materials, visual aids, and activities in conjunction with other local agency staff + Other duties as assigned by WIC Program Manager/Site Nutritionist Provides nutrition care for low-risk children at follow up appointments including: + Collecting and entering anthropometric and hematological data + Providing and documenting general participant-centered nutrition education + Providing and documenting referrals to other assistance and health programs + Adequately documenting participant contacts to ensure continuity of care + Issuing, tailoring, and reviewing WIC benefits with WIC participants + Scheduling and reviewing future WIC appointments as appropriate + Promoting breastfeeding as the normal infant feeding method + Attending and participating in all training and continuing education sessions offered by State WIC Program + Other duties as assigned by WIC Program Manager/Site Nutritionist Requirements: + High school diploma/GED required + One (1) year of experience working in a medical office or performing clerical duties + Excellent customer service skills with a positive and professional attitude + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. + Ability to perform basic computer and telephone skills + Successful completion of WIC paraprofessional training within one (1) year of start date + Spanish speaking is highly desired CS-HHC is an equal opportunity employer.
