POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will work under the Advanced Wildlife Maintenance Technician to learn proper techniques and skills to maintain the infrastructure of the Wildlife Department.  The Wildlife Maintenance Tech is responsible for assisting with the daily upkeep and repairs of all Wildlife facilities, including the equestrian center and sled dog kennels. The Wildlife Maintenance Tech will assist in maintaining the landscaping inside of the large animal enclosures, facilitate invasive weed removal, and sustain clear fence lines. They work with the rest of the Wildlife associates and under the Advanced Wildlife Maintenance Technician to design and build animal enclosures and enrichment. The Maintenance Tech Coordinates with the Engineering department on Wildlife Department vehicle repairs. They troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on electric fences, HVAC systems, and plumbing systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide a variety of general, mechanic, and preventative maintenance duties as well as inspections, servicing, repair, and overhaul of equipment for the Wildlife Department. Works independently, coordinating daily workflow in maintaining assigned building projects. Prioritizes repair requests and plans work to ensure necessary parts are available and tasks are completed quickly and efficiently. Maintaining working order of all wildlife facilities and infrastructure. Completing general repairs to fencelines, HVAC systems, plumbing, vehicles, and facilities. Managing pasture and enclosure landscaping Safely and efficiently operating a variety of vehicles, including club cars, tractors, and   department truck. Possessing a general knowledge of operating a variety of manual and power tools Collaborating with the rest of the Wildlife associates on enclosure and enrichment designs and improvements - bringing the visions to life Completing other various maintenance tasks as assigned by management Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Respond immediately to fire alarm systems; disengage electrical, water, or gas systems to protect building occupants and property. Other job duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

High school diploma required. Ability to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Previous maintenance experience is preferred. Must have the ability to speak English fluently.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as through recreational experience.
