We are seeking a talented engineer or scientist with expertise in simulation, data-science and software to join this small high-performance team. The role will be responsible for developing advanced modeling methods and data analytics techniques to develop both existing and new toolchains related to wind resource assessment and wind turbine suitability. In addition to development, the role will also support validation and deployment of tools that are used daily for large wind turbine projects. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain primarily Python-based data pipelines and workflows for processing and analyzing large volumes of wind simulation and measurement data on the AWS cloud, handling terabytes of data.Utilize scientific packages such as NumPy, Pandas, Xarray, and Dask to manipulate and analyze wind simulation data efficiently.Design and implement scalable data processing solutions on AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and validate modeling methods and techniques for turbine and wind farm modeling.Create proof of concept solutions using simple notebooks for initial experimentation and testing.Transition successful prototypes into production-ready code, focusing on writing clean, robust, and scalable software.Research and implement advanced modeling techniques, including data-driven models modeling, to improve the accuracy of wind characterization toolchains.Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and deliverables.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or field related to wind energyMinimum of 4 years of experience in Python development, with a focus on scientific computing and data analysis.Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in scientific Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Xarray.Proven track record of developing clean, robust, and production-ready code.Strong communication skills and ability to work on complex tasks.Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, particularly AWS services such as EC2, S3, and EKS.Familiar with Apache Airflow.Knowledge of advanced simulation tools, FEM, CFD etc.Familiarity with machine learning techniques for data analysis and prediction.Knowledge of wind energy simulation techniques, such as engineering wake models and site energy assessments.The salary range for this position is $98,400 - $164,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation. This posting is expected to close on February 5th or thereafter.
