Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or 5 years of experience in Information Technology accepted in lieu of a degree Minimum 5 years’ experience in Information Technology Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Azure and other cloud environments Knowledge of various security solutions and how they interact with the Microsoft platform Experience in the deployment and administration of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, SCOM, Terminal Server, File & Print server Experience with virtualization technologies such as Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMWare and Citrix Large project management experience and demonstrated understanding of project management processes, methodologies, and techniques Knowledge of enterprise data center and infrastructure environments Working knowledge of ITIL Experience with IT governance and change management

 

Salary Range: $110k - $130k /year approximation (actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).

Howmet Aerospace is currently in search of a Windows Engineer to join the Global Information Systems group based out of Pittsburgh, PA. The Windows Engineer role is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation, and support of Microsoft Server and Cloud platforms and associated foundational technologies. This role is responsible for primarily leading strategy and policy development while having a pulse of operational challenges to drive continual improvement. 

Major Activities and Responsibilities: 

Manage windows server OS hardware and software design and lifecycle management Provide input to architectural design changes and long-term strategic deployments Perform Windows server OS configuration and hardening to meet strict standards and regulations Own active directory architecture design, migrations, windows and authentication integration  Maintain an in-depth awareness of Microsoft technologies, roadmaps, and development activities Act as a level 3 point of contact for operational escalations Partner with internal customers and third-party vendors for configuration, integration, and deployment activities Shares knowledge and technical expertise with less experience Infrastructure team members

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of Active Directory and its underlying technologies such as Active Directory Certificate Services is a must Azure IaaS fundamental knowledge Familiar with PKI and in particular Active Directory Certificate Services Broad experience throughout Microsoft’s data center offerings  Experience at global enterprise scale Curiosity, interested in learning and mastering new technologies and techniques A team player mentality, able to cultivate a collaborative environment to productively work with other platform engineers as well as cross-functional teams Self-motivation, capable of taking initiative to proactively problem solve and identify solutions with minimal oversight Sound judgement; grounding decisions based on logic and problem solving to determine the best path forward Strong interpersonal skills to build working relationships with vendors (i.e. hosting providers), offshore resources, and other IT professionals Can communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbally, across all levels of the organization
