Windows Enterprise Domain Administrator

We are currently seeking a Windows Enterprise Domain Administrator for a remote role in the MD\/DC Metro area. The administrator must live locally in order to attend meetings onsite.\n

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and security of complex multi-domain Windows environments, with a focus on Active Directory (AD) and Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure. This position is critical to ensuring the security, reliability, and performance of enterprise IT infrastructure supporting national security missions.\n

Responsibilities\n\nArchitect, deploy, and maintain multi-domain Windows enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with organizational and DoD standards.\nManage and optimize complex Active Directory forests, domains, trusts, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs), including advanced troubleshooting and migration activities.\nOversee and configure enterprise DNS infrastructure, including integration with AD and external DNS systems, ensuring secure and reliable name resolution across domains.\nImplement and enforce security best practices, including patch management, access controls, and monitoring for compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community requirements.\nPerform regular system audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation of security threats in accordance with IAT Level 2 and DoD 8570 requirements.\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior administrators and support staff.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to support mission-critical applications and services.\nPrepare and present technical documentation, reports, and briefings to senior management and stakeholders.\nParticipate in incident response, disaster recovery planning, and execution of business continuity strategies.\n\n

Qualifications\n\nActive Secret clearance\nPossess or be able to obtain at least a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, SSCP, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, or GSEC).\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\nMinimum of 8 years of hands-on experience managing large-scale, multi-domain Windows enterprise environments with complex AD and DNS requirements.\nAdvanced knowledge of Windows Server OS, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.\nExperience with AD integrated DNS zones, trust relationships, and secure dynamic updates.\nProficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell) for system administration tasks.\nStrong understanding of network protocols, security controls, and compliance frameworks relevant to DoD\/IC environments.\nPreferred: Prior experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or other federal government environments.\n\n

Preferred Qualifications\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to brief technical and non-technical audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in high-security, mission-driven environments.\nCommitment to continuous learning and professional development in cybersecurity and enterprise IT best practices.\nTop Secret clearance\n\n
