Windows System Administrator - Secret Clearance Required
Overview: We are seeking a qualified Windows System Administrator with an active Secret Clearance to manage and maintain a secure Windows-based infrastructure for a government or defense-related organization. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, security, and compliance of the IT environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, security protocols, and will be able to handle the requirements of a secure environment.Responsibilities:System Administration & Maintenance:Install, configure, and maintain Windows Servers, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policies, ensuring compliance with security protocols.Administer user accounts, permissions, and group policies using Active Directory.Monitor system performance, security, and availability to meet organizational objectives and maintain uptime.Security & Compliance:Implement security best practices, ensuring compliance with DoD and government standards such as DISA STIGs, NIST, and RMF (Risk Management Framework).Manage and apply security patches and updates on a regular basis to maintain compliance and prevent vulnerabilities.Administer and enforce security configurations, including encryption, firewall settings, and access controls.Backup & Disaster Recovery:Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and backup procedures.Regularly test and update disaster recovery plans to ensure the availability of critical systems in case of failure or cyber threats.Support data restoration efforts as necessary.Troubleshooting & Technical Support:Provide Tier 2/3 support for Windows-based systems, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.Respond to incidents, alerts, and security events in a timely manner, ensuring minimum downtime and data loss.Maintain and manage system logs, identifying and resolving errors to prevent service disruptions.Security Clearance & Audits:Ensure all systems adhere to the requirements of government security clearance protocols and that sensitive data is handled according to relevant guidelines.Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with security and documentation standards.Assist with the accreditation of systems under the Risk Management Framework (RMF).Automation & Scripting:Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell or other scripting tools to increase efficiency and reduce manual efforts.Develop and maintain scripts for monitoring, configuration, and security compliance.System Upgrades & Improvements:Plan, schedule, and execute system upgrades and improvements to enhance performance, security, and functionality.Stay current with emerging technologies, suggesting improvements and enhancements to the environment.Manage virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V or VMware as part of the infrastructure.Documentation & Reporting:Create and maintain system documentation for configurations, processes, security settings, and disaster recovery procedures.Provide regular status updates and reports on system health, performance, and security posture.Qualifications:Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance (or higher) is mandatory.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience as a Windows System Administrator in a secure or government-regulated environment.Strong experience with Windows Server OS (2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.In-depth knowledge of DoD security compliance, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53 guidelines.Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for task automation and security management.Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and system restoration processes.Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
