Wire Harness Design Engineer
Job Description Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Wiring Harness Engineer for one of our largest material handling clients in Columbus, Indiana. There is a Hybrid remote schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. You will be responsible for the 2D schematic of the forklift electrical wiring harnesses, control units, lighting and battery systems from initial concept to volume production. Responsible for detailed component design & development, calculations, investigating ways to reduce component costs, and make continuous improvement of schematic design. Also responsible for managing development projects and coordinating with other departments, suppliers, and manufacturing groups to fulfill the vehicle development program. Skills and Requirements - Experience with 2D schematic wire harness design in Zuken or Capital Harness, Mentor Graphics, Creo Schematic or similar software. - Experience with small component specifications such as switches, relays, fuses, etc. - Ability to read & understand wiring harness drawings & create schematic based on the harness layout. Collaborate with systems group to gather harness specification inputs to develop the harness schematic. - Experience with calculating the current & voltage specification for the sub system schematic. Ability to separate or integrate harness based on the harness layout. Ability to select Fuse & Relays based on the harness electrical load. Ability to choose the correct wires & cables size for the low & high voltage wire harnesses based on the component electrical load. - Solid background in electrical engineering. - Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years related experience - Experience with prototyping and harness manufacturing. - Knowledge about CAN communication & architecture. -Experience using Electrical measure tools like Multimeter or similar devices. null We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
