You’ll partner with a licensed/certified professional who will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role. **Job Details** + Effectively work as part of a team, communicate effectively with close attention to details + Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program + Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors, school staff, parent(s) or guardian(s), and employer + Assist with patient check in assuring two identifiers are used to confirm identity + Deliver samples to the laboratory and perform administrative duties to support the department including the cleaning and maintenance of collection area and equipment + Under the direction of an experienced professional and upon completed training, assist with the collection and preparation of blood and other specimens + Perform other duties as assigned **Education and Experience Requirements** + High school junior or senior + 16 years of age + Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria + Reliable transportation to get to and from work + Satisfactory progress towards graduation + Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week) + Demonstrated maturity and responsibility + Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance and a strong work ethic + Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication **About SSM Health** SSM Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit health care system serving the health needs of communities across the Midwest in Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Missouri. EDUCATION + Must be at least 16 years of age and currently enrolled in High School or 18 years of age with a High School diploma/GED EXPERIENCE + No experience required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. + Frequent keyboard use/data entry. + Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. + Rare climbing.
