Women's/Children's Health Educator PRN Days
**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** **GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:** Provides instruction to established corporate and community clients based upon identified program objectives in the areas of women’s and children’s health. **SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:** + Associate Degree Required. + Bachelor's degree or actively engaged in a Bachelors degree program in Nursing, Social Services, Education or health related field preferred; or 3 years of experience in a health care facility with direct patient interaction. + Two years of experience teaching and/or facilitation individual, family, or community programs or support groups preferred. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** + Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. + Utilizes principles of adult teaching and learning appropriate for the needs of the learner and the specific program. + Revenue Management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. + Develops evidence-based program/course that meets identified community needs, program goals, and service line strategy. + Conducts programs/courses in a manner that demonstrates respect for the individual and healthcare providers. + Develops and implements a plan for evaluating the program/course. + Demonstrates ability to facilitate group learning and discussion. + Maintains current knowledge of course/subject material related to all or specific Family Center programs. + Monitors, tracks, and reports for productivity, individual encounters and community benefit measures. + Engages in outreach, marketing and event planning and participation. + Basic understanding of projector /video equipment and computer skills with an emphasis on MS Word and PowerPoint. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. **JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:** **Parenting Educator:** + Presents information that will improve parenting skills. + Presents communication techniques between parent and child in course materials. + Presents specific skills and techniques to enhance the parent/child relationship. + Communicates research-based information on parenting education. + Certification/licensure as appropriate for specific program responsibilities preferred. **Infant Nutrition/Consultant:** + Provides infant nutrition education and instruction to breastfeeding and bottle feeding mothers at the Women’s Center and the Family Maternity Center that promotes high quality nutrition for the infant. + Demonstrates assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the breastfeeding relationship. + Leases effective double electric breast pumps to the community. + Sells reputable breastfeeding products and supplies with instruction of usage. + Teaches breast care techniques to non-lactating mothers. + Infant Nutrition/Lactation education/certification preferred. **Family Educator:** + Presents information that will integrate evidence based programs into family learning environments. + Presents communication techniques and tools in course materials to enhance individual and family relationships. + Communicates research-based information on family, individual and adolescent health and education. + Meets requirements for specific education program. **About Saint Alphonsus** **Colleagues of Saint Alphonsus Health System enjoy c** **ompetitive compensation with a full benefits package and opportunity for growth throughout SAHS and Trinity Health!
