Hybrid classified roles can be onsite more than the set minimum based on employee preference. + Description + Benefits + Questions What Success Looks Like In This Job Performs professional and supervisory work in the administration of Women, Infants & Children (WIC) services for individuals and families. Provides outreach and partners with community groups around WIC, food access and public health nutrition initiatives. Oversees daily operations, activities, and personnel of a WIC clinic. Reports to Nutrition Manager. May have accountability for assigned employees, operations, and activities within the assigned WIC office. Typically includes providing input into hiring, coordinating staff training, assigning, and reviewing work, and evaluating performance in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager. Examples of Duties for Success Examples of Duties for Success: + Provides professional public health nutrition services. + Assesses clients' nutritional status across the life span; consults with health care providers regarding clients' nutritional needs; makes appropriate referrals to clinical staff and other primary care providers. Coordinates care activities among caregivers. Documents and maintains client records. Certifies clients as appropriate. + Provides counseling and develops nutrition care plans for clients with high-risk factors and families regarding nutritional needs, taking into consideration income, cultural food patterns, home facilities, and other psychosocial factors. + Oversees group nutrition classes for clients; assists in preparing and reviewing educational materials. + Maintains active working knowledge of the principles, techniques, practices, and procedures related to human nutrition in health and disease and its application in a public health program; Practical implementation of educational and presentation methods for diverse population groups; Research methods and curriculum development; and supervisory techniques and methods. + Participates in staff team conferences and provides nutrition counseling and education for clients in related ACHD programs (i.e.: Field Nursing). + Participates in the planning, developing, organizing, and implementing of nutrition services in a public health program; participates in division and office strategic planning and in outcomes measurement for nutrition services. + Assists in the development and implementation of program procedures and policies and other aspects of the program. + Supervises personnel and program operations including the assignment and review of staff work, interpretation of program policy and procedures for staff, and scheduling of work time. Evaluates staff performance independently or in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager. + Instructs staff in the methods, techniques, and procedures utilized in nutrition and WIC services. + Effectively supervises and mentors professional and support staff in a productive and positive manner. + Provides input into interviewing and staff selection as well as initiation and management of disciplinary action, in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager. + Ensures the timely and accurate completion of state training modules and compliance with WIC standards. + Conducts training programs for staff personnel and educational programs for the community. Promotes public health nutrition programs and services through community outreach education and presentations. + Responds to and resolves complaints, issues, and concerns regarding clients, care providers, and referral agencies. + Develops and implements an individualized portfolio plan for professional growth and development. Incorporates portfolio goals into ACHD performance objectives as appropriate. + Complies with ACHD confidentiality policies and demonstrates accountability for the proper use of clients’ protected health information. + Stays abreast of trends and developments in public health nutrition including but not limited to pre/perinatal, breastfeeding, infant, and early childhood nutrition. + Interprets and disseminates current scientific information. Applies evidence-based guidelines and best practices to daily activities. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County Health Department employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community. + Provides professional and sensitive customer service to clients and public of diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. + Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to exchange information with staff and clients and provide instruction to clients. + May require working outside regular hours to attend meetings and to teach classes. + Perform other duties as assigned. More Qualifications for Success Experience: + 1 year experience as a dietetic intern and/or credentialed RDN in a healthcare, public health, or other related setting. Working knowledge of Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and Policy. + Supervisory and/or project lead/management experience is preferred. Education and Training: Master’s degree required for newly credentialed RDN’s as of 01/01/2024. License and/or Certification: + Must be a registered dietitian nutritionist through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or be registration-eligible. + Registration-eligible employees must complete the registration examination and become registered within six months of employment. + Possession of a valid driver's license and dependable transportation. Background Check: Criminal background check is required. Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
