WOOD WORKER
Summary You will serve as a Wood Worker of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO. Responsibilities You will prepare containers with appropriate blocking, bracing for shipment of both general cargo and hazardous materials such as flammables, caustics, and corrosives. You will construct a full range of standard and nonstandard containers requiring complex bracing such as assemblies, aircraft parts, radar antennas, engines, and calibrated equipment. You will use/maintain a variety of hand tools, machinery /mechanized equipment while performing duties associated with this position such as wood working machinery, band saws, drill presses, generators, drills, screw/nail guns and more. You will conduct regular inventories of all materials and supplies needed. You will adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to prevent accidents and injuries in the workshop and on job sites. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position with more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform a full range of Wood Worker tasks including: 1. Determining the sizes, shapes, parts, bracing and sections required to manufacture a durable transportation vehicle in order to prevent damage during storage or transports; 2. Select the appropriate tools, machines, equipment, and work methodology in order to construct items having complex features or special requirements for sturdiness, serviceability, size, fit, and safety; 3. Utilize a knowledge of transportation/woodworking rules and regulations for preparation, packaging, and shipping requirements for all materials, including all 9 hazard classes; 4. Determine or recommend the extent of repairs required or construction alternatives necessary to modify or rework containers. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
