JOB SUMMARY:

The Woodward Camps Retail Manager will oversee all aspects of retail merchandise sales at Woodward PA and will also support the retail department at Woodward West. This role will report to the Woodward PA General Manager and have close collaboration with POWDR’s Director of Retail. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who is highly organized and driven. This person will be tasked with creating standard operating procedures; hiring, onboarding and training seasonal staff; receiving and accurately tracking inventory; and integrating merchandise into Woodward’s software program to optimize data, reporting, and overall intelligence of the retail business. Additionally, this person will manage all day-to-day activities at retail outlets such as stocking shelves, replenishing inventory, creating exceptional retail presentation, and optimizing all customer interactions to maximize transactions.   The successful applicant is willing to evolve and adapt with the needs of the business and adhere to and support all work protocols and guidelines. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee all aspects of Retail Merchandise sales on-site at Woodward PA across soft goods, hard goods, and sundries.  

Support Woodward West Retail Department with inventory management, ordering and hiring. Oversee the merchandise buy for Summer across soft goods and hard goods.   

Create standard operating procedures across Retail function from employee manuals to inventory management to sales reporting.   

Oversee entry of product Purchase Order's into Woodward’s Accounts Payable system (Coupa) and product descriptions and receipts into Circuitree.   

Contribute to building an annual and seasonal sales plan based on historical inputs and other qualitative and quantitative data.   

Own the retail merchandising experience across all retail outlets at Woodward PA and Woodward West to ensure a best in class shopping experience, identifying sales opportunities and overall maximizing sales protentional for campers and guests.   

Support the creation of seasonal product range by providing thoughtful, actionable input to help meet trends of campers and that will contribute to hitting seasonal/annual sales goals.   

Assess and adapt the back of house storage areas to improve and optimize product organization, flow, and access for best operational efficiency and security.   

Create a standardized merchandise plan for Hard Goods that meets the demand and needs of Summer camp for both Woodward PA and West.  

Travel to Woodward West up to 2x year to support and assist with on-site operational needs.   

Assist POWDR Director of Retail with retail e-commerce sales including creating and updating Product Display Pages, photography across the website, and identify affiliate opportunities to cross promote and optimize onsite & digital sales.  

Own the recruitment, onboarding, and training of seasonal Summer staff at both Woodward PA and Woodward West. 

Manage seasonal summer retail staff and hold accountability to Woodward standards, customer service, and SOP’s developed. 

Schedule seasonal staff to cover Retail outlets during operational hours. 

Oversee all payroll administrative duties for seasonal staff in alignment with labor budget. 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES  

Self Starter: confident communicator who can advocate for needs and execute a plan in a very entrepreneurial environment that can be unpredictable and doesn't have a prior playbook.   

Strong computer skills; proficient at Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and Google Suite. Apple Keynote skills are a bonus.   

Problem Solver: ability to make decisions and make quick pivots in a very fluid environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS  

3-5+ years of retail experience  

1+ year experience managing people  

Four-year college degree preferred  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

+/- 5 employees  

BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS  

As a requirement of this position, pre-hire criminal history clearances are collected from the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) system, child abuse clearances are obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, and federal history is taken through FBI fingerprint screening.  

Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50lbs.  

Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines  

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
