POSITION SUMMARY

About Us

Communication & Design, often referred to as C&D, is a specialty practice of HUB. We are a team of creative professionals consisting of writers, designers, consultants, project managers, and web and app developers. Our team creates multi-channel campaigns that include print, digital and web-based projects. Most of our work focuses on Employee Benefit Communications, whose aim is to engage employees and make their benefits information easy to understand. If you’ve ever received a work email letting you know you only have two days left to enroll in health insurance, that’s us! Now we’re looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to come help keep our work fresh, inclusive and fun.

Our team of professionals embraces humor, creativity and individuality. Our team members include pet lovers, crafters, Netflix couch potatoes, board game collectors and more, so don’t hide your spark! We’d love to know what makes you tick.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our team is looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to support and develop WordPress/Web needs within the team. We are looking for people who are friendly and communicative, who possess a high attention to detail, are creative and organized, and can multi-task. If you can meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, this is the place for you. Candidates invited to interview should be prepared with samples of their work.

A day in the life of a WordPress Developer

Front-end support: Creating deliverables and websites

Set-up design and function

Including adjusting settings and styles

Adding plug-ins and forms

Activating and providing Google Analytics

Trouble shooting plug-ins and forms

Back-end support: Server Maintenance and Trouble shooting

Duplicating websites

Creating staging websites and pushing live

Maintenance of email inboxes to websites

New server creation

Feature add-ons and upgrades

Troubleshooting across devices (iOS vs Android)

Security updates

Website performance testing

General: Process Improvement

Creativity in troubleshooting

Efficiencies in website creation and hosting

Expertise in plug-ins and add-on features

Conduct thorough testing of the site to ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsiveness.

Our expectations for all Team Members:

Willingness to dedicate extra time and attention to complete tasks, when required. Our “busy season” is typically late August through early December.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to compose clear and concise correspondence.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

Remote professional office environment (office equipment including a laptop with the requisite software and/or phone will be provided). You may be remote but you won’t be alone – you’ll meet our team members during new employee training, keep in touch through Microsoft Teams and catch up with everyone over video calls.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essentials. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences preferred

At least 5 years experience in WordPress development

Experience with building mobile apps

Knowledge of front-end technologies including: CSS, JavaScript, HTML5 and database systems

Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance

Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices preferred

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated computer proficiency (Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite)

A creative mind

Disclosure required under applicable municipal regulations in NY and NJ, as well as the law in Colorado: The expected salary range for this position is $80K to $100K and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. HUB International is proud to offer comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages which could include health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, FSA, HSA and 401(k) accounts, paid-time-off benefits, and eligible bonuses, equity and commissions for some positions.
