Responsibilities You will provide education, training, information, and referrals designed to foster personal growth, positive development, and improved individual and family functioning. You will plan, manage, coordinate, implement, and evaluate training, education, and outreach for Work and Family Life (WFL) Programs. You will conduct personal and family life readiness education and training to address the wide range of challenges identified in the community (e.g. financial concerns, transition, deployment, stress, etc.). You will assist leaders at all levels with developing individualized training plans for specific commands/units based upon community needs assessments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized Experience may include: 1) Planning, implementing and administering family life services and activities to support military members, retirees and their families 2) Developing activities, programs and services to improve quality of life for community members in aspects of career, social, financial, health and community 3) Providing training and information on a variety of Quality-of-Life Programs to communicate available resources to community including financial concerns, transitions, deployment, stress, etc. 4) Collaborating with military members, leaders and community members to execute a multi-department installation to manage events, activities and programs. Additional Information This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. A 40-hour work week is typical for this position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is primarily sedentary in nature. Some walking, bending, and stooping is required. When providing training, standing may be required during entire sessions. Incumbent may be required to carry some files and documents not weighing more than 20 pounds. When aboard a large Navy ship, considerable walking, climbing, pushing, kneeling, crouching, and bending is required. Moving about the ship requires agility and range of motion within walkways, portholes, ladder wells and other tight spaces. Work may also involve prolonged standing at times, and incumbent may be required to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in an office setting that is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. The incumbent may conduct training abord Navy ships, near active naval aircraft, shipyards, and repair/construction areas, as requested; possibly exposing the incumbent to high levels of noise, various temperatures, and possibly requiring safety or protective equipment while such environments. While supporting Return and Reunion (R&R), Departure and Separation and Homeport Change efforts underway, the incumbent may live and work on board the ship while it is underway or deployed. During active Emergency Family Assistance Center events established in response to a manmade and/or natural disaster (or other real-world event), the incumbent may be exposed to various conditions to include loss of power, conditioned air, and normal standards of living may be impacted due to the nature and impact of the event. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
