Thales, a global leader in aerospace, defense, and security solutions, seeks a passionate and talented Work Package Manager to join our Naval Engineering Center (NEC).

In this critical role, you will play a pivotal role in defining and integrating combat system solutions, ensuring operational advantage for our armed forces customers. You will work collaboratively in a dynamic, international environment, tackling technically-demanding projects that push the boundaries of innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Package Organisation and PlanningAuthor the Work Package Description with the WP team based on the project structure regarding the entity/Customer requirements.Identify deliverables, milestones and interdependencies with other WP’sEstablish an initial network / PERT diagram, the schedule and the estimates and the schedule based on a viable solution, and identify the necessary resources and their availabilityDefine WP risks and opportunities and ensure agreed mitigations are funded and Initialise the work package baseline using the relevant key project toolsEnsure the WP is approved and where applicable commitment is obtained from suppliers.

Work Package LaunchRefine the network / PERT diagram and createda detailed schedule which is aligned with the project master schedule.Define the cost structure, resource profiles, supplier selection and the relevant metrics to monitor the WPWrite relevant plans within the WP scopeUpdate the WP risks and opportunities and ensure any newly agreed mitigations are funded.Define, implement and report WP specific KPIs and ensure these captured in the PMP
Work Package ExecutionAchieve the objectives of the Work Package and take the necessary management actions to correct any deviation from the baseline or objectivesIdentify and solve issues, managing the risks and opportunities and performing mitigation activities.
 Work Package Monitoring and ControlReview document, specifications, schedule & estimate files using peers where necessary.Monitor & consolidate all deliverables.Update the schedule, risk & opportunities register, the ETC & EAC.Consolidate the work package dashboard (included agreed KPIs) and lead progress meetingsReport as per the PMP and escalate to the PM any variances or key issues.Manage scope change and ensure baseline change requestes are raised and the Work Package Description is up-issued as necessary.

Quality of DeliverablesResponsible for the quality of the delivered products, services and documentation within the project committed time and budget and in the scope of the work package.Ensures that all configuration items within the WP scope are managed (could be done by a configuration manager)

Key Stakeholder RelationsLead the team and/or suppliers involved to perform the work package and ensures the respect of all commitments.Participate and input to all relevant project reviews as specified in the PMPAct, where required, as PM delegate to the Client.Act, where required, as the Thales representative for sub-contracted work

Capture of Lessons LearnedThe WPM must collect, analyse and synthesise the strengths and weaknesses during the performance of the work package, propose recommendations for improvement and record these as prescribed in the PMP.

Work Package ClosureThe WPM must ensure that all the commitments taken in his work package description sheet have been honoured by collating all WP data, costs and estimates etc, recording them and then organise a closure review.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics, Aeronautical/Space, Computer Science) or a relevant technical field.Proven experience in Software/Hardware development, Systems Engineering, and Integration & Verification, Validation & Qualification (IVVQ) activities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative work ethic.A passion for lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
