Workers Compensation Legal Assistant

Job Description:The Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant supports the Program Manager and Paralegal with legal administrative duties including but not limited to filing motions and other legal documents via the administrative court system, management of the digital file system and spreadsheets, follow-up with Workers Compensation and Third-Party Liability case files. The legal assistant will at times perform case law research for the Program Manager and Paralegal.

Key Responsibilities:

Logs in hearing notices, settlement and administrative conferences to calendarKeeps files updated by contacting and communicating with attorneys on case progressMaintaining Excel spreadsheets for continuous monitoring re: monies being collected re: TPL/WC Settlements and underpaymentsAssisting with the preparation and filing of legal documents and correspondenceResponding to Third Party Liability Lien hold requestsProofreading legal documents for the manager and paralegalProvides support to the department as needed

Educational Requirements:

Associate’s degree and/or 3 years’ legal experience in Workers Compensation or Liability field

Required Qualifications:

Experience with electronic medical records. Must have attention to detailProficient in Excel, Word and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

Long term interest in risk, legal, workers compensation, or related field Experience with shared files, Adobe, Foxit
