The Product Knowledge Base team is at the epicenter of eBay’s tech-driven, customer-centric overhaul. Our team is entrusted with creating and innovating eBay’s Product Knowledge – a vast Big Data system made up of listings, transactions, products, knowledge graphs, and more. At its core, our team explores the taxonomy and ontology of the vast variety of products found on eBay, so that ‘product knowledge’ can be enriched and our users can get the best possible experience while buying/selling items on our platform. We are a team of highly proficient people from multiple fields such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, Operations, and Big Data Analytics. We have a strong culture of collaboration, and plenty of opportunities to learn, make an impact, and grow!

We are looking for the stellar interns to join us and build a sound understanding of products in eBay search. If you enjoy the scale and technical complexity of understanding the product space at a marketplace as vast and diverse as eBay, and solving problems like active learning, entity recognition, normalisation, aspect segmentation, building knowledge graphs, LORA, to name a few, and want to be at the frontier of applied research in e-commerce, join now! What you will accomplish:Approach some of the most interesting AI problems eBay is facing in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Natural Language Understanding (NLU).Collaborate with a team of researchers and software engineers.Demonstrate knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies to tackle complex problems.Drive the technical vision of the team by incorporating and developing data scientific processes and standards.Enhance eBay’s buying and selling experience and create robust data pipelines.Develop real-time monitoring and optimization algorithms.

What you will bring:Pursuing a Master of Science degree in computer science or related fields with a preferred specialisation in machine learning or NLPExperience with designing and training machine learning modelsProven ability to work independently and make good decisions with minimal directionStrong communication skills (fluent English, both verbal and written)Experience working with complex and large text and web dataExperiences working with deep learning tools, like PyTorch or TensorFlowProgramming skills (Python/Java, shell command-line tools)Experience with collaborative coding (Github etc.)
