Position Summary
Shape the future of Genentech’s workplaces as a gRED Workplace Strategy Partner. Drive innovation, collaboration, and performance through strategic work environment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Advisor: Serve as a strategic workplace advisor to the Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED) business unit, integrating workplace strategies, advanced work practices, and change management processes to support strategic goals.
Collaboration: Work closely with Space Planners and cross-functional teams—including People & Culture, Informatics, and Site Services—to develop and implement comprehensive, client-focused solutions.
Client Engagement: Engage directly with gRED leaders to understand business needs, facilitating and negotiating innovative workplace strategies. Offer short and long-term solutions that balance efficiency and effectiveness.
Change Management: Guide and support stakeholders in adopting new spaces, technologies, and behaviors to foster flexibility, collaboration, and enhanced performance. Use change management skills to ensure the successful integration and adoption of new work paradigms.
Space Planning: Assess, analyze, and address space needs, collaborating with relevant teams to develop occupancy plans aligned with Genentech's objectives. Ensure a seamless work experience across gRED’s scientific work environments.
Skills & Expertise
Scientific Environment: Experience working in a scientific environment or as a lab architect/planner is highly preferred, with an understanding of scientific workflows and team dynamics.
Communication: Exceptional articulation and interpersonal skills.
Leadership: High emotional intelligence and relationship-building across all levels.
Strategic Thinking: Forward-looking, problem-solving, and adept in agile decision-making.
Project Management: Demonstrated experience in leading large-scale change initiatives focused on strategic planning and execution.
Customer Focus: Highly collaborative approach, effectively working with peers and clients at various levels. Passionate about creating environments that optimize work performance.
Core Responsibilities
Client Partnership: Act as a strategic advisor to senior leaders (Directors and VPs), aligning workplace solutions with business goals, and fostering strong relationships.
Workplace Strategy: Utilize Genentech’s Workplace Strategy Framework to research, prototype, and evolve work environments supporting business transformations.
Change Initiatives: Drive and manage change initiatives, ensuring successful and sustainable transitions to new ways of working.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 12+ years in workplace strategy, workplace design, lab planning, corporate real estate, or a scientific field.
Skills: Proficiency with Google Suite and project management. Familiarity with change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci ADKAR) and an understanding of workplace design principles, space planning, and neuroaesthetic practices is desired.
Onsite Presence: Minimum of three days per week. This role is not eligible for relocation.

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of California, is $109,800 - $203,800 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
