Description:

This is a great opportunity for a Registered Nurse, RN professional to work in an organization that focuses on treating the whole person, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Loyola Medicine's 3 hospitals are located approximately 30 minutes from Downtown Chicago. Gottlieb is a community based hospital, in Melrose Park, IL.


Initiates and provides ongoing evaluation of ostomy surgery patients. Marks optimal stoma site reflecting assessment of patient's anatomy, physical capabilities and lifestyle. Initiates a plan of care that includes discharge goals during pre-op visit and communicates plan with multidisciplinary team and patient/family via electronic documentation, conferences or telephone AND adjusts plan to meet changing needs. Makes regular post-operative visits to ostomy/wound patients to assess physical and psychological readiness for learning. Educates patients and families regarding ostomy/wound care to facilitate rehabilitation through independence and self-care. Facilitates patient/family education and evaluates demonstrated patient outcomes.

III. Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:

Required: Bachelors Degree

Preferred: Masters Degree

Specify Degree(s): Nursing. Graduate of accredited Wound, Ostomy, Continence program with board certification in ET nursing

Minimum Experience:

Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Preferred: N/A

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois

Preferred: N/A

Other: Specialty certification in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (CWOCN).
