Responsibilities Under the Leadership of the Administrative Director of Ambulatory Care, the Wound Care Coordinator is responsible for educating staff regarding risk assessment, pressure ulcer prevention, and appropriate wound care. The Wound Care Coordinator fulfills all the responsibilities of a Wound Care Resource Specialist Nurse and assists with recommending treatment plans for patients with complex wounds, and/or orders for wound and Ostomy care. They are also a resource to staff providing up-to-date information on wound care policies and procedures. The Wound Care Coordinator is able to interact on a professional basis with all team members and is able to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of patients in reference to specific age groups. The Wound Care Nurse demonstrates knowledge and support of the unit specific standards of care. The Wound Care Nurse demonstrates competency to plan, initiate and evaluate care for patients in accordance with discipline specific standards as defined by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Nursing. The Wound Care Coordinator provides education and assistance to UF Health The Villages team members and acts in compliance with the Ethical Conduct of the organization at all times. Qualifications Education Graduate Degree Preferred Bachelor’s Degree Required Licensure/Certification/Registration Florida Registered Nurse License BLS Wound Care Certified. Additional certification in Continence Care is preferred. Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Leadership Skills. Teaching and educational abilities. Communication skills. Should attend hospital training programs including: New Manager/Supervisor orientation and Leadership Development courses
