Wound Care Nurse, RN, WCON

Kindred Hospital Bay Area-St. Petersburg and Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is 95-bed hospital offering the same in-depth care you would receive in a traditional hospital, but for an extended recovery period. With 82 long term acute care beds, we partner with your physician and offer 24-hour clinical care seven days a week so you can start your journey to wellness. Comparably, our 13 bed ARU is designed for people who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment or illness. Located south of downtown St. Petersburg where 4th Street turns into 6th Street, between 30th and 32nd Avenues, we have stunning, unobstructed waterfront views of the bay with easy access to public transit. Job Summary

Implements policies and procedures, along with standards of care and practice related to patient care needs involving various types of wounds. Provides direct patient care and assistance to staff nurses and acts as consultative service regarding wound care to clinical staff. Performs wound care functions under the oversight of a Wound Care Coordinator.

Essential Functions

Provides care for patients whose primary needs involve wounds.Evaluates all wounds upon admission and ongoing to determine treatment plan and provide early problem identification.Reviews initial treatment plan with the supervising Registered Nurse.Reports to the supervising Registered Nurse any change of wound status.Consults with National Wound Care Consultant and Wound Care Coordinators.Assists in planning patient's care.Evaluates products and cost effectiveness for use in hospital and makes recommendation.Reviews and participates in developing discharge plans.Educates staff on products available for use in hospital.Evaluates culture results and conferences with physicians on Plan of Care.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

Ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities, and utilize problem-solving techniques.Knowledge in wound care.Knowledge in wound debridement's as indicated within level and scope of practice.Ability to serve as resources to nursing staff in complex wound management.Ability to lead, motivate, and develop others individually and as a team.Must read, write and speak fluent English.Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.Must have good and regular attendance.Approximate percent of time required to travel\: 0%Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program leading to licensure as an LPN/LVN or RN.

Licenses/Certification

Active RN or LPN/LVN License in the state and BLS certification.

Experience

Three (3) years nursing experience with experience as an acute care nurse.
