Position Summary:

This position will work with the practice patients, MRI Technologists, clinical teams, referral coordinators and SKI’s contract person on accurately scheduling the patients for their MRI exam.  The X-ray Technician retrieves all MRI orders through SRS imaging pool, enters basic demographics and sends messages to the Medical Assistants on the patient’s appointment date and time through SRS messaging.  The X-ray Technician will meet or beat the expected scheduling goals.  As a licensed X-ray Tech, doing coverage, you will be responsible for facilitating patient flow through the x-ray department of facility in a professional manner, and for initiating and completing diagnostic exams and paperwork as prescribed by the physician.  The X-Ray Technician will exceed the expectations of every patient by treating them with the utmost care, compassion and respect.  To secure a standard of service that allows the patient’s experience to be extraordinary. Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.SchedulingChecks daily the Imaging Pool in SRS to retrieve MRI ordersManage requisitions and physicians orders in the Cerner EMR applicationModify, start and complete exams in the RadNet application within Cerner’s EMRDouble check Authorizations, Diagnosis description and CPT codes are on all ordersMessage all Medical Assistants in SRS on patient’s appointment date and timeFill cancellation or NO SHOW appointments diligently to meet goalWork with OCM, Next Image, MIS, DOC organizations on scheduling MRIsSchedule outside Referrals appropriately with complete documentationUpdate MRI techs of add on patients and STAT requestSchedule Dexa scans in-house and outside requestsAnswer returning calls and or X-Ray requestCross functionWorks in collaboration with registration, front desk and clinical personnel and MRI techDuring times of high volume or absenteeism or scheduled time off, X-ray tech will be asked to provide coverage for Carlsbad or Oceanside X-ray departmentX-ray CoverageInitiates contact with patients in a friendly, courteous and professional mannerPerforms digital x-ray exam (within the scope of the limited permit) as prescribed by physicians, following all radiation precautionsMakes sure to wear designated Dosimetry badge each dayClocks in on computer promptly and works at work station at assigned timeTurns on the Swissray HDDR and/or Carestream/Quatum wireless digital machines and performs QAs and/or Daily Dark each dayPractices the OSNC culture for the safety of each patient and to consistently maintain a record of zero safety infractionsMaintains full compliance with Title 22, Title 17, OSHA and safety code standardsTeamwork is mandatory for safety as well as keeping organized and prepared for x-ray rushesKeeps CPR certification currentPerforms all necessary record keeping, such as charges on CaretrackerReviews all Radiology department protocols and Radiation protection manual annuallySet up of X-ray guided Hip InjectionsWraps or burns CDs, MRIs or indicates in PACS system for surgeriesGather x-rays or CD from work stations at the end of day and imports into PACSImports Surgery fluoroscopy picture into PACSStocks x-ray room with supplies such as pillow cases, pillow covers as needed at the end of every working dayClean x-ray table and pad, equipment stands with disinfectant wipes at the end of working day and document weeklyTakes responsibility for general cleanliness and appearance of work areaStocks changing room with shortsTreats patients with the utmost dignity when having them changePerforms all other duties as assigned.Customer Service:All OSNC employees are required to maintain the highest level of customer service at all times. Employees must always speak in a kind, courteous and professional manner when dealing with a patient/customer or co-worker.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical and/or orthopedic terminologyWord processing and computer experience

Education:

High school diploma or GED, required.

Licenses:

XT, required.

Certification:

BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association; Healthcare Provider.
