XO Finance Business Partner
The Position

The Opportunity:

The Experience Operations (XO) Finance Business Partner is responsible for financial management and value-based business decision support for the XO organization.  The role involves collaborating with Genentech Business Operations (GBO) Finance colleagues to support the Vice President (VP) of the XO Function and the XO Leadership Team.   

As a key business partner to the Experience Operations organization:  

Lead and develop analyses to inform and drive decisions by evaluating the financial implications of strategic options and the impact on US Commercial.  Examples include resourcing options for existing brands, products acquired via business development opportunities, and upcoming product launches.

Develop tools and systems to provide senior leadership with critical financial and operational information. Based on the analysis and interpretation of key financial data, make actionable recommendations on strategy and operations.

Must be able to use strong business acumen to provide recommendations to Senior Leadership outside the scope of Finance to help them make effective business decisions.

Work with function leaders and Squad partners to execute financial planning activities, including budget submission, forecast, and long-term plans. Use activity-based financials in budgeting to give insight into XO investments and their impact on Brands. Ensure that expense forecasts are accurate.

Ensure that the function delivers information required to support US and Basel key Long & Short Term Planning activities, and ad-hoc requests that arise in the course of business.

Lead the monthly and quarterly preparation and analysis of the departmental and functional financial results. Assess financial performance against the annual budget and the department’s long-term strategy.  Evaluate the financial impact of decisions and scenarios to help Senior Leadership make sound and optimal financial decisions.  Apply external and internal data, including activity-based metrics, to evaluate opportunities and clarify the impact of strategic decisions. Highlight risks and opportunities for an Enterprise perspective on resource allocation.

Partner with the XO business to identify, prioritize, and invest in new XO business capabilities that will build future value for patients and Roche. Similarly, identify low-value generating investments that should be deprioritized/sunset. 

Support XO with insights, analysis, and counsel, accelerating ICX (Integrated Customer Experience) adoption, impact, and value. 

Mentor and develop finance Managers and Analysts supporting US Commercial, Medical, and government affairs( CMG)/XO

Who you are:

You have 7+ years of relevant work experience 

You have a Bachelor's Degree (Masters and pharmaceutical industry experience preferred)

Significant experience in finance, strategic planning, business development, or other related functions, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotech or related industries

Previous experience leading large-scale business planning processes

Knowledge of pharma commercialization strategies and tactics a plus

Experience acting as a strategic thought partner to teams; Demonstrated ability to problem solve and think outside the box

Proven track record of leadership, time management, project management, and teamwork

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of California, is $132,400- $246,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
