What You'll Do

As an LPF project engineer, the candidate will be responsible for helping to manage a complex, multi-discipline engineering group (both internal and subcontracted) responsible for A/E Subcontractor performance along with self-performed major equipment, component, and bulk material procurements in support of the Lithium Processing Facility (LPF) Project. Candidate will be assigned to the LPF Engineering organization to help support Title II and III Design, miscellaneous procurements, startup, and testing activities.  Candidate will help ensure the Engineering organization's performance of the established scope of work and ensure the Engineering organization’s performance of the established scope of work is accomplished within budget and on schedule. Candidate will review, and in some cases, approve design deliverables and ensure that all technical input requirements are considered and incorporated and that reviews for constructability, acceptability, operability, maintainability, safety, etc., are performed.

Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum of seven years relevant experience along with a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA. OR a Master's degree in engineering/science discipline with a minimum of five years relevant experience along with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA. OR a PhD in engineering/architecture/science discipline with two years relevant experience along with with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering, or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1-year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2). Preferred Job Requirements Bachelor of Science in (e.g., Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Fire Protection, Architectural, etc.) Engineering from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET. A Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred, but not required. Or, Bachelor of Science in Architecture from a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited program in the United States.  A Professional Architecture License is preferred, but not required.  [A minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 within the STEM major for Bachelor degree only at time of offer and confirmed by transcript.] Extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of related engineering/architecture systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering, architecture, and construction methods and materials. Knowledge of industry regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to various engineering and architecture disciplines. Ability to apply technical skills of engineering and architecture to the design of facilities and/or appurtenances to facilities. Ability to coordinate engineering/architecture teams and collaborate with stakeholders to outline project requirements and develop scopes of work, project schedules, and budgets. Ability to prepare, read, and/or interpret complex engineering/architecture drawings. Ability to conduct formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties. Ability to review projects for technical accuracy. Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word. Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders. Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic. Typical experience ranges from 10 to 15 years.

In addition, this person shall be capable to serve as the CNS Contractor Building Official (CBO) for the LPF Project as the person having authority for research/evaluation, inspection and/or testing services for IBC Section 110 and associated special inspections.

If a range of Career Levels is posted, i.e., Senior Associate to Senior Specialist, internal applicants already in one of the Career Levels would come across at their current Career Level. Internal applicants currently in a lower level Career Level would move to the lowest posted Career Level.

 

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

 

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
