Job Title: Youth and Community Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Specialist Position Summary: The Youth and Community DEI Specialist will bring holistic, collaborative youth and community-focused initiatives to New View Alliance’s DEI Department and partner agencies. In collaboration with the DEI Supervisor, the DEI Specialist will work to support our agencies, continuing to become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. The team will work together to initiate, develop, and oversee major initiatives that advance the affiliation and support the quality and effectiveness of the member agencies. Agency: New View Alliance is the parent company of Gateway-Longview, Inc. and New Directions Youth & Family Services, Inc. providing both agencies with strategic planning, advocacy, and shared administrative support for Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Corporate Integrity, Performance Improvement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Compensation : $25.00 - $28.02 per hour * Offers based on education and years of relevant experience Position-Specific Duties/Responsibilities: + Design, implement, and evaluate youth-centered programs and learning opportunities that promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and belonging through a trauma informed lens. + Support Youth Advisory Council on agency campuses + Provide training and learning opportunities for agency staff on DEI and trauma-related needs + Mentor and empower youth to become advocates for diversity and equity in their communities. + Act as a liaison between the organization and community groups to foster trust and mutual understanding. + Facilitate dialogue and forums to address topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. + Manage and cultivate existing relationships with community stakeholders as required to enhance awareness, funding, advocacy, and collaboration + Assist in recruitment and retention of employees (to maintain a diverse pool of talented individuals,) and actively identify, support, and advance diverse employees + Actively participate in agency Equity Work Group + Promote Restorative Justice practices at member agencies + Provide employee and family training and in-services as required + Concurrently support multiple department initiatives and special projects as required + Provide logistical support to the DEI Supervisor and training department + Travel required to campuses of Gateway-Longview, New Directions and New View Alliance + Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Ability to work some evening and weekend hours + Strong knowledge of DEI principles, practices, and trends + Excellent communication and facilitation skills + Analytical skills to assess programs and policies for effectiveness and inclusivity + Familiarity with community resources and systems that support youth and families + Ability to engage with diverse staff and leadership to promote trust, collaboration, and partnership between departments + Knowledge of trauma informed principles or willingness to learn + Innovative and Self-motivated Qualifications + High School Diploma or General Education Development + Valid New York State Driver’s License + Demonstrated commitment and/or experience in advancing equity & inclusion through professional or life experience + Extensive training in cultural competency preferred, but not required + Enthusiastic and passionate on topics of anti-racism, equity, diversity, and overall people development + Experience in advocacy, paid or volunteer, for marginalized individuals/groups preferred + Strong knowledge of DEI principles, practices, and trends, with a deep understanding of accessing resources in areas served by agencies We want to emphasize that the preferred qualifications are not required and that we are committed to helping our future colleagues develop these preferred skills.
