Amergis Healthcare is actively looking for Youth Care Workers that would be interested in a 10 Week, Full-Time Contract at a Social Services Organization in Chicago, IL. Additional details of the contract are below:
Position: Bilingual Youth Care Worker
Location: Chicago, IL (Bronzeville)
Pay Rate: $23 per hour
Schedule:
First, Second and Third shift available! Shift Options 8:00AM to 4:30PM 4:00PM to 12:30AM 12:00AM to 8:30AM Weekend availabilityDuration:
10 Weeks Opportunity to convert to internal employee at the end of assignmentRequirements:
Minimum one year of experience with youth in case work, human services or related field Bilingual English-Spanish High school diploma or GED ASAP StartThe Youth Care Worker (YCW) is responsible for the oversightand safety of children or adolescents in a variety of secure setting caresettings. The Youth Care Worker willinteract with the youth in a positive manner while assisting them with dailyactivities and implementing treatment plans.
The Youth Care Worker will display a professional and caringattitude and will encourage positive behaviors through effective communication,decision-making, and problem-solving. The Youth Care Worker will respond to emergencies and assist in theredirection of youth when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees, instructs, and guides youth in their dailyroutines including personal hygiene, indoor and outdoor activities, meals,programming, and school Positively interacts with youth to address their concernsand problems while teaching them to develop good decision making and problemsolving skills Documents daily observations and reports changes in youth’sbehavior Participates in initiatives to support the facility’s goalsand objectives Maintains records and reports youth’s progress withtreatment plans, goals, and education per facility policy and protocol Escorts youth throughout the facility to classes, clinicappointments, and other activities Helps to establish and maintain a calm, safe and productiveenvironment Locates youth who are not within their assigned area andescorts them to where they are assigned Conducts safety checks of the facility, youth’s rooms andpossessions, and secures/reports any hazards to appropriate authority Assists youth with housekeeping duties such as laundry andcleaning of their individual and common areas Demonstrates a high level of critical thinking andparticipates in multidisciplinary treatment meetings when appropriate Adheres to facility and Amergis policies at all timesMinimum Requirements:
Associate’s Degree in social sciences, counseling,behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or childdevelopment preferred A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the care, custody, orpersonal guidance of youth Bilingual or multilingual may be preferred in some settings Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: Competitive pay & weekly paychecks Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) savings plan Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
