Youth/Teen Camp Supervisor: + In a youth/teen camp setting during the summer season, supervises and instructs Youth/Teen Camp Leaders in various indoor/outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, orienteering, fishing, biking, canoeing/rafting, dance, arts and crafts, environmental education, teamwork/leadership activities, etc. + The majority of activity takes place outdoors in municipal parks in warm weather conditions. + Must be 19 years of age or older. + This position is designated as At-Will Essential Functions Overall supervision of participants ages 4-17 and Youth Camp Leaders. Operation of city vehicles to transport to various locations in and around the Boise area. Works with program coordinator to organize and develop games, field trips, and activities for weeklong camps. Communicates with staff, parents, families, and participants. Maintains, keeps secure, and manages the inventory of related program equipment. Programs take place in both indoor and outdoor settings and camps and activities are designed to be outdoors the majority of the time. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Certification or demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the specific camp discipline/activity. Ability to: deal with individuals in a friendly and tactful manner; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training Two years of experience working with youth from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Certified in First Aid and CPR. Licensing And Other Requirements Valid state-issued driver's license. Special Requirements Applicants must be able to pass: City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation Driving Record Check Drug Free Workplace: In accordance with the City of Boise Drug Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post - Accident, etc. Applicants will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to hire. Physical Efforts Working Environment 19-Hour Temporary All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits. 4-Month Temporary All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment. 8-Month Seasonal In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage. 9-Month Temporary In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
