Supervises youth grades 6-12 in afterschool recreation programs and activities at one of the city's school-based community centers. Assists staff and program supervisor with the operation of teen recreation program activities. Works independently with limited supervision. This position is open to all interested persons age 19 and older. This position is designated as At-Will. Essential Functions Ensures the safety and well-being of all community center afterschool participants and staff. Encourages and engages youths in a variety of indoor and outdoor group recreational activities such as basketball, tag, and tetherball. Prepares materials and supplies for youth arts and crafts projects and assists participants when necessary. Makes sure equipment and supplies are in good working order and notifies supervisor when items need repair or replacement. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Working knowledge of computer software such as Word and Excel as well as internet skills. Ability to: + interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; + display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public, and other organizations; + communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; + complete assignments in a timely fashion; + understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; + perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor, and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training + One year of experience supervising youths and teens. + Current certification in First Aid/CPR.
