JOB PROFILE SUMMARY

Technical Trainer mainly educate individuals to understand technology and automation to achieve a particular technological field or trade. Develop technical training programs and facilitate training. Develop skills to enhance new APPRENTICES & TRADE learners to qualify as Artisans. Technical trainers are extremely knowledgeable in their field of expertise and possess solid technical aptitude.

POSITION DETAILS

Induction of new learners Develop technical training programs according to the qualification curriculum requirements as set out by NAMB, DHET, MerSETA, and QCTO. Focus training of millwrights’ apprentices, mechatronics trade, artisans, and technicians including new technologies.  Focus on the new mechatronics NQF5 qualification material development and training.  Develop training material (training plans, trainer guides, learner guides, assessment documents as per ODETDP guidelines)  Develop training schedules and execute classroom work facilitation of fundamentals and modular training. Conduct practical and theoretical training sessions for maintenance artisans.  Assess employees for competence (ARPL, pre-employment and on-the-job assessments) Prepare apprentices and trade learners to be ready for trade testing. Keep and maintain learner data on completed courses, evaluations, moderations & IR issues, etc. Observe and evaluate the results of training programs. Assist with implementation and assessment development of artisan for multi-skilling training. Perform training needs analysis (TNA’s) Evaluate training impact on the business. Determine the overall effectiveness of programs.  Oversee continuous improvement & further development of training material and assessment tools. Ensure general training material is reviewed yearly. Procurement of skills training raw materials and appropriate training equipment  Compile and record training data/training reports in preparation for internal and external moderation  Maintain cost and consumable consumption at low levels to be in line with budget. Control expenditure in the area of responsibility month by month. Co-ordinate recalibration of measuring instruments (calibration register) Ensures invoices are validated before payment including respective backup documents in line with the current invoicing procedure. Complete any reasonable tasks in line with technical training as instructed by the training associate.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

N4 to N6 Qualification + Trade Certificate in Millwright/ or Mechatronics or equivalent qualification 3 to 4 years experience as a trainer Understanding of SAQA, NQF, MerSETA, Learnerships, and Apprentice modular training

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Capability to facilitate competency assessment and internal moderation interventions. Liaise with training institutions to ensure accreditation of training workshops. Deliver learning tasks autonomously with minimal supervision.  Meet deadlines and timing with quality, accurate data.  Ability to design, develop, and successfully deliver technical training programs. High level of integrity Prepared to work overtime and flexi-time when required 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES 

Ability to analyze and evaluate training programs.  Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects Experience in designing technical course content. Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially PowerPoint) Outstanding communication skills and comfortable speaking publicly Time-management abilities Knowledge and understanding of Ford Production Systems Thorough knowledge and understanding of Plant Quality Operating Systems
