Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Licensed Zone Maintenance Supervisor in our Health Systems Physical Plant (HSPP) Department, who is responsible for providing leadership, customer service, and stewardship supporting Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service. HSPP provides maintenance services and project oversight to over four million square feet of patient care, research, and academic spaces. UVA Health facilities consist of a 700-bed hospital, Level I trauma center, nationally recognized cancer and heart centers, Children’s Hospital, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia. This Zone Maintenance Supervisor will be in a working supervisor role, leading their team in day-to-day maintenance activities, while assuring the quality of their team’s work. You will manage and schedule preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as develop processes for efficiently coordinating short- and long-term workloads. In addition to ensuring safe work practices and regulatory compliance, Zone Maintenance Supervisors are responsible for performance management of supervised staff.
The incumbent will also provide positive leadership in a manner that reinforces the University's commitment to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Responsibilities:
Engage with zone customers through professional written and verbal communications. To include communications for planned and emergency outages.
Direct skilled and unskilled staff in maintenance of interior of buildings and small carpentry/patching/painting/flooring projects.
Ensure regulatory and other maintenance requirements are completed on time and accurately documented.
Supervise and train employees that may specialize in several different skill sets.
Delegate assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
Recommend or initiate personnel actions and administer the organization's policies for the department.
Plan and schedule building and maintenance work, making modifications as necessary.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers.
Solve problems and keeps current of new products and techniques.
Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of ICRA, OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. This includes snow removal shifts at the Medical Center, in snow emergencies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of four years of experience in building maintenance
Two years of supervisory and/or leadership experience required
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction or maintenance experience in a health care environment, to include infection prevention and control
At least two years of experience leading a team in a regulated health care environment
Experienced user of Asset Works “AiM” and Tableau
Extensive experience using various Microsoft applications (excel, word, outlook)
Selected candidates will be required to complete all required background checks, including a health screen prior to the first day of employment.
Compensation:
The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $32.50 - $36.50 per hour; actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
