Responsibilities Mental Health Technician at our Residential Treatment Center, evening or overnight shifts. Our Residential Treatment Center holds two 12-bed units and one 10-bed unit for youth ages 10 – 18 who require long-term treatment for severe and chronic psychiatric disorders. We are dedicated to working with our residents and their families to develop specific behavioral plans to help patients successfully transition to a less restrictive therapeutic environment. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Responsible for carrying out designated duties to appropriate patients, including supervision of residents and program implementation on the RTC. Performs task-related responsibilities as assigned by the Unit Coordinator and reports all appropriate patient changes to the Unit Coordinator. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignments to units. Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in human services preferred. Experience: Previous experience in human services preferred. Previous experience in psychiatric or residential treatment facility strongly preferred. Essential Functions: Supervise day-to-day programming of RTC residents. Implement daily programming for residents according to posted schedule. Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Is responsive and effective in handling psychiatric emergencies, calms residents, and manages difficult to handle residents as needed. Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound professional judgment and competency. Provide feedback in an appropriate and professional manner to staff. Deals in a straightforward manner with problems and advises administration of such when needed. Non-essential functions: Seeks to update and strengthen needed job skills centered on programmatic and resident issues. Regularly attends staff meetings, in-services. Display a cooperative style in dealing with colleagues. Show a high level of communication skill and responsibilities with staff, referral agents, residents, and families. Project a positive image of The Pavilion by being courteous, helpful, friendly, and professional in relationships with patients, co-workers, and visitors. All documentation is clear, concise and timely. Utilize appropriate clinical terminology and current charting methods in documentation. Respond to a “Support Code” in a therapeutic, appropriate manner as prescribed by TCI. Maintain CPR and TCI certification, as well as OSHA requirements.
